NEW Exhibit – Greene Homes Photovoice Exhibit

Thursday, October 1 - November 30
12:00 am

The Bridgeport History Center is proud to partner with Sacred Heart University and PT Partners for our new temporary exhibit “Greene Homes Photovoice”, showing the charms and longstanding challenges of one of Bridgeport’s oldest public housing complexes through the eyes of its residents.

Affectionately called “The Greenes” by Bridgeport residents, Greene Homes was built in 1951 as a part of Mayor Jasper McLevy’s sweeping affordable housing policies. However, the complex has long faced issues with maintenance, safety, and technical issues such as frequently stopping elevators. The city of Bridgeport’s plans to redevelop the area have also been subject to criticism due to lack of transparency, delays, and an unclear plan for the current residents’ future.

From now until November 30th, you can see photographs, testimony, and dreams from the residents of the Greenes.
