About the North Branch Library
North Branch opened in fall of 1995, replacing the old North End Branch Library. Set in a park with flowering trees, sports fields for soccer and lacrosse, a playground/splashpad, tennis/pickleball courts, and picnic tables throughout, North is a special place.
We are located on a bus line, in a neighborhood with three schools within walking distance, plus plenty of parking for visitors. The building itself is an appealing place to come for reading, relaxing, browsing for books or DVDs, studying, using computers, or attending our many events. An excellent children’s area offers child friendly computers as well as puzzles, puppets, and blocks for creative play.We have two large community rooms, a small conference room, and two study rooms. The building is fully accessible with an open layout all on one floor. Large windows look out over the park with tables and comfortable seating for patrons.
Among the many programs we offer are yoga, music, arts and crafts, programs for seniors, story hours and playtime for little children, book discussions for adults and children, and financial, self-help and legal programs. Partnerships with community groups include First Serve Tennis program, Bridgeport Youth Lacrosse, VITA volunteers and AARP for tax assistance, Lawyers in Libraries, Bridgeport Community Historical Society, and many more.
At the North Branch Library, our greatest strength is the caring, knowledgeable team that supports our community every day. We look forward to meeting you and your families and making you feel right at home.
