Message from the City Librarian
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! Libraries across the nation have designated the month of September because it coincides with the start of the school year.
This year, Bridgeport Public Library has partnered with Bridgeport Public Schools to ensure that every student that registering for school will also sign up for a library card. Throughout the school year, our librarians will work with parents and teachers to provide opportunities for literacy – from hosting early literacy library programs like “Little Bears” at the North Branch, to working with teachers to arrange class visits to the library, and attending literacy-themed parent-teacher nights.
All Bridgeport residents may sign up for library cards. Adults that work in Bridgeport may also sign up for selected library resources as long as they have a library card in their town of residence. Each Library has computers with Internet; free Notary, photocopy and printing services are also available. Through our Online Library, users can access many electronic resources like Libby for e-books, Hoopla and Kanopy for streaming movies, and applications that help with learning career skills and resume-building.
Visit one of our library branches and find the resources you need today. Remember, Bridgeport Public Library is Fine Free, so you won’t be charged for bringing a book or DVD back late!
