About the East Side Branch Library

Welcome to the East Side Branch Library. The library is currently closed for renovations. During this time, our other five libraries remain open to serve you.

Once completed, the East Side Branch will feature a new exterior façade, a community room on the first floor and an elevator leading to the newly renovated second floor. The second floor will house dedicated spaces for the teen and children’s departments, study rooms, and a podcasting studio. The renovation is being designed by the local architectural firm Antinozzi Associates, Inc.

Before becoming a library, the building at 1174 East Main Street had a rich history. It was originally Watson’s Department and Appliance Store, with the name still engraved in the sidewalk outside the entrance. More recently, it served as a Salvation Army store before being acquired by the city in 2016. The new library opened its doors in 2019 and closed for renovations in 2024.
