Scope & Content:
Once the troops left Annapolis, they had a relatively easy and direct route south on the Chesapeake Bay and down to Cape Hatteras on the Outer Banks where they could enter the sound and approach important, strategic locations on land like New Bern and Fort Macon. This black and white sketch depicts Forts Hatteras and Clark. Boating activitiy is visible in the foreground and two Union flags are flying from the forts.
