Black and white photograph of an 1876 watercolor painting by Jürgen Frederick Huge of the Burroughs building which would become the Bridgeport Public Library in 1888 after the death of Catherine Burroughs Pettingill in 1883 who donated the building. The painting depicts street life in front of the building as well as a few of the shops on the first floor including Prindle & Whiting's Tea shop and Sammis & Fairchild's clothing shop.
