Bridgeport Public Library : Images across the years
Title:
Girls with their dolls outside the South Branch of the Bridgeport Public Library
Description:
Black and white photograph showing a large group of young girls standing outside the South Branch of the Bridgeport Public Library all holding their dolls. This seems to have preceded or followed a July 1937 program presented by Miss Vera Fagan about her doll collection. The South Branch opened in 1922 on Myrtle Avenue between South and Railroad Avenues on land donated by Marie and Virginia Soules: two sisters who lived on Warren Street adjacent to the land. It temporarily closed during the 1930s and, in 1965, it was permanently closed because of the State Highway expansion of Route 25.
