Two hippopotami appear in a water scene, front and center, with wide open mouths threatening each other. A little farther back is another open-mouthed hippo standing in the reeds next to a partially submerged mother hippo with a baby on her back. A landscape dotted with palm trees and huts is in the distance. There are human figures, some holding spears.
