Title:
Hospital on Roanoke Island (north side), North Carolina - 1862
Scope & Content:
During the Civil War, hospitals for the sick and wounded were grim places to be avoided. Due to medical practices implemented during this period, many people died of infections rather than their original injuries. This small hospital building sits in a wooded area on Roanoke Island.
