Uncovering the Hidden Inventors Who Shaped Our Lives

Uncovering the Hidden Inventors Who Shaped Our Lives

Join us as we welcome Connecticut Author Ainissa Ramirez for a discussion about the hidden diversity of inventors throughout history!  Award-winning scientist and author, Dr. Ainissa Ramirez, has a passion for science and loves to promote a better understanding of it. In her recent book The Alchemy of Us, Ramirez showcases little-known inventors who made important discoveries and innovations, but whose accomplishments had been hidden by mythmaking, bias, and convention. In this talk, she will discuss a range of diverse inventors who shaped our everyday lives. If you have any questions about this program, you may call Margaret at 203-576-7400, ext. 437 or email mgirgis@bridgeportpubliclibrary.org.

MEET AUTHOR DEBORAH LEVISON

MEET AUTHOR DEBORAH LEVISON

Meet local author Deborah Levison, author of a memoir THE CRATE: A Story of War, a Murder, and Justice and, just recently, a novel, A NEST OF SNAKES about sexual abuse in a private school.

Levison is a writer of non-fiction and fiction who lives with her family in the Greater Bridgeport area.

THE CRATE tells the very personal story of Levison’s parents who escaped the trauma of the Holocaust only to find a deep dark secret in their new home.

A NEST OF SNAKES is a novel about the trauma faced by  prep school students at the hands of predatory adults in their school. This book is both gripping and timely as more and more stories of abuse by those entrusted with the care of students.
