The\u00a0staff of the\u00a0Bridgeport History Center got an idea. \u00a0One hundred years ago, World War I started. \u00a0 We wanted to do an exhibit. \u00a0Just after the initial thought, the phone rang.<\/p>\n<p>I answered and heard the voice of Vincent Keating. \u00a0&#8220;Would you be interested in a diary and other things from World War I?&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Would I?&#8221; \u00a0The answer was &#8220;YES!!!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Connecticut Post came into the library, and writer Frank Juliano and photographer Autumn Driscoll helped me document the occasion. \u00a0The scrapbooks, photographs and daily account of a young Bridgeport soldier in World War I is priceless. \u00a0The soldier was Vincent Keating, the father of Vincent Keating, Jr.<\/p>\n<p>The items cannot be handled, but they will be on display and carefully transcribed. \u00a0After all, the diary made it from a young soldier&#8217;s bag across war torn Europe and back to Bridgeport. \u00a0We need to treat it with care!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a wonderful gift!
