The Bridgeport Public Library will celebrate the Week of the Young Child with a Family Drumming Circle featuring Michael Mills of Drums No Guns and Friends.
The Bridgeport Public Library will celebrate the Week of the Young Child with a Family Drumming Circle featuring Michael Mills of Drums No Guns and Friends on Wednesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the downtown Burroughs & Saden Library Children’s Room. Mr. Mills has performed at the New Haven Jazz Festival, the Special Olympics World Summer Games, and most recently at the downtown Bridgeport Arcade.
Drumming for Life features hands on participation. Family audiences will discover the relevance of rhythms from around the world as well as the exploration of diverse cultural drumming, percussion and chants involving various basic communicative languages from different regions of the world.
The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. The 2014 Week of the Young Child™ is April 6–12.
