A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway – Book Discussion
August is the 100th anniversary of the start of World War l.
To mark this occasion “A Farewell to Arms” by Ernest Hemingway, will be the topic of a book discussion with Mark J. Schenker, who has been at Yale College since 1990. He is currently a senior associate dean of the College and dean of academic affairs.
Published in 1929, A Farewell to Arms is based on Hemingway’s own experiences serving in the Italian campaigns during WW I. It follows an American ambulance driver on the Italian front and his passion for a beautiful English nurse.
The Bridgeport Public Library third floor gallery is now exhibiting World War I photographs and memorabilia from the collection of Victor Keating. Also featured is the collection of Ronald Fazekas and planes handcrafted by James Brennan.
